Product Development Competition 2024

WITH THE TOPIC “FOOD AND FUNCTIONAL FOOD FROM SEAWEED”

After a long-awaited period, the Final Round of the Product Development Competition 2024 of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology was finally held on June 1 2024 at the Hall P100, Phuong Vy building. The competition officially concluded successfully, marking the end of a remarkable journey for the passionate and talented students.

After more than a month of persistent study, the teams that made it to the finals gave their all, demonstrating dynamism, creativity, and passion in the final round. You also impressed the judges with their unique and effective products, completing your convincing presentations in front of the experienced judges.

The competition received significant attention and participation from faculty members and businesses.

1. On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology, we were honored to welcome Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kha Chan Tuyen - Deputy Head of the Faculty.
2. On behalf of faculty members, we had the participation of: Dr. Vu Ngoc Ha Vi, MSc. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao, MSc. Le Thi Thanh, MSc. Nguyen Minh Hien, MSc. Nguyen Hoang Thao Ly.
3. On behalf of experts from Galway University, the 2024 Product Development Competition was privileged to welcome the participation of:

• Dr. Ronan Sulpice - Galway University in Ireland
• Dr. Matthias Schmid - Galway University in Ireland

Coming to the competition, every team surely harbors the dream of becoming the winner. One of the objective factors that helps evaluate the performance of the contestants as well as decide the champion of the competition is the score from the judges. The Organizing Committee of the competition is honored to have invited leading experts to the program, who will provide objective and professional feedback for the competing teams.

5/ Ms. Doan Nguyen Bich Uyen, Head of R&D Department, Viet Huong Flavors Joint Stock Company.

The Product Development Finals has two sessions:

- Product exhibition: This was where the teams could showcase their products after more than 1 month of preparation. The session attracted a lot of interest and participation from students.

Enterprises/Sponsors visited the teams' booths

- Presentation - Defense: This was the main session to select the champion for the Product Development Competition 2024.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Kha Chan Tuyen gave a brief speech summarizing the formation and development of the competition. He also, on behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Faculty, he also expressed deep gratitude to the Sponsors, Companions, and Judges of the competition.

The Organizing Committee of the Product Development Competition is extremely grateful to the Faculty Board and the lecturers for their guidance, encouragement, and support throughout the competition, from its inception as just a plan.

The Final Round, which lasted over 4 hours of intense competition, has officially concluded with the following results::

• First Prize: PTSP419 - 3CE HEALTHY with the product “Green in Red - Brown rice jelly supplemented with Dulse algae”;
• Second Prize: PTSP427 - VIDUNDER with the product “Seaweed ginseng water supplemented with S'Rong Kombucha tea”;
• Third Prize: PTSP408 - GREENFISH with the product “Vegetarian Fish Balls made from spirulina, kelp and young jackfruit”;
• 5 Encouragement Prizes:
  • PTSP401 - D.UYN with the product “Seaweed Noodles - Dried Job’s Tears”;
  • PTSP403 - NGUOI MIEN JAY with the product Vegetarian Seaweed Sausages (Kappaphycus alvarezii)”;
  • PTSP409 - HALUNO with the product “Snack - Seaweed Tofu Skin”;
  • PTSP422 - FIU with the product “Nutritional and Electrolyte Drink from Pineapple-Flavored Seaweed”;
